On Saturday, December 10, The Bridge of the Penn-York Valley Churches will distribute our remaining flood relief funds to the 375 households that have received assistance since the September flood. To receive your share, you must come to the Guthrie Patterson Auditorium, from noon until 2 pm, or call us to  make other arrangements. Tables will be set up according to alphabetical groups so that the lines will be short. You will simply need to show photo ID and sign for your envelope. We anticipate that the lines will move quickly.

Everyone who has already received a flood-relief voucher from The Bridge will receive a check for $250. The check will be made payable to you personally, not to a vendor. Of course we encourage you to use the money responsibly but you are free to decide how best to use it.

Since our flood relief program began, some people have also received gift certificates  at our Clothes Closet. In order to keep everything as equitable as possible, anyone who has NOT received the gift certificates yet will also receive $100 in Valley Gift Certificates, in addition to the $250. You do not need to apply, we have kept track of this and know who to provide the gift certificates to.

Note that we are not mailing these checks because we cannot be certain that the addresses are correct, or that you would have definitely received your check; and also because the gift certificates are just like cash. So PLEASE come to the auditorium to receive your envelope, or call us to make other arrangements. If you do not, you may not receive it!

The Bridge, a small group of unpaid volunteers, has worked very hard to distribute all flood-relief donations fairly. The cost to us in time and driving has been substantial and we have donated it all. Once this 2nd-round distribution has been made, further flood relief vouchers will only be made upon receipt of new donations.
