Ex-Valleyite Michael Kwasnoski, now a squadron commander with the United States Air Force, recently took part in a long-range bicycling fundraiser. The event was organized to raise money for the local Boys & Girls Club, but when Michael heard through his family of the ravages caused by the September flood, he decided to add “The Bridge” as a recipient. Last week, during his biennial trip back home to reunite with family and friends, Michael presented The Bridge with donations totaling $495.

Michael grew up in Athens and always loved bicycling. Since enlisting, he has participated in many biking events. This latest was a “metric century” 100 kilometer (62 mile) route through the wine country near Santa Maria, California. Michael felt good about collecting donations for The Bridge because he knew that 100% would go to flood survivors near his former home.

Now in his 15th year with the Air Force, Michael is stationed at Vandenberg AFB in California, where he lives with his wife Margo and their two children, Noah (age 5) and Selah (age 3). Michael is scheduled to soon leave for another tour of duty in the Middle East. The Bridge thanks Michael on behalf of the valley and wishes he and his family well!
